Nonotina 7th, Year One of the Reign of High King Ran

Magic arrives at The Fiery Stag Inn looking for employment as the jobs board that stands outside suggests he might.

He offers to buy a round of drinks for the house and performs an impromptu song as well.

Not drinking himself, besides water offered by the barkeep. However, he finds a note wedged into the base of his mug.

He talks to the barkeep about a rumor of a priceless heirloom that is being brought to the castle, its route passing near this inn.

One of the patrons spills his drink and then leaves abruptly.

Magic follows the patron and engages him in conversation, indicating he could be helpful if the fellow needed help.

Reluctantly, the patron, named Alsis, reveals that he is following up on the same rumor and has more information about it. He feels Magic may be of use as a distraction or a diversion.

The pair return to The Fiery Stag to meet with the owner and, particularly, his wife who is a member of the Germanus family. The Germanus family is the current owner of this heirloom being gifted to Ran. However, the wife, Astrid Germanus-Bjarte, wishes to have the heirloom for herself.

Upon Magic's performing for Astrid, the matron hires Alsis and Magic to acquire the talisman, as she refers to it, and return it to her. She supplies them with directions and a promissory note to be returned with the heirloom that will pay them 200 gold.

The two decide they need more of a crew to pull this off since there are other factions vying to acquire the piece, including Forget-Me-Not.

Alsis guides Magic to Halvar to find out where the halfling rogue Fennimore might be found, while he heads to Nightfield to round up some muscle.

Halvar directs Magic to Dee Strongbones, a cute, but dangerous halfling spy who then directs him to The Rogue Spoon where Fennimore is working for its proprietor.

Magic makes his way through "The City" to the North Market of Star Plaza and finds the brothel where the reputedly rotund halfling is working.
