Decitina 24th, Year One of the Reign of High King Ran

The "conspirators" have been in and out of The Rogue Spoon Inn several times in the last several weeks trying to figure out where this supposed shrine to Borgose is. They have met with no success. Munkustrap has been avoiding the place, but he may have powers that may actually make it possible to find something like this without a lot of trouble after all.
You have found that meeting at The Fiery Stag has turned out to be pretty safe...for the most part, though Reggot Octavious the King's Herald has returned from Tesalurk and the tavern is quite busy now that he has returned.
Perri Elastime: Maybe the shrine is elsewhere. At a brothel is a little obvious.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I know I said I would stay away from the Rogue Spoon, but I think I can call upon Lehnbor to show me what we seek if it is there.
You are all at the corner table in The Stag going over the latest visits results.
Rael Octavius enters The Stag, notices you all at the corner table again, and approaches.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Are either of you good at disguises? Apparently I am not, but I need to get to The Rogue Spoon.
Perri Elastime: Well, I haven't been able to find anything there.
Rael Octavius: Hello, all. What is going on? Still, striking out at the Spoon?
Fennimore: Welcome, Rael.
Perri Elastime: Hey there. What have you been up to?
Rael Octavius: Court, court, and more court. I need some adventuring away time.
Perri Elastime: I can understand that!
Rael Octavius: I guess your training may feel the same way sometimes.
Fennimore: What do you think, Munkustrap? Care to include another in our fun?
Perri Elastime: Nah. Training is fun. I still have hopes of hitting the King.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Sure, why not?
Fennimore (smiling): I can vouch that he shares some of your interests.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I need to get to The Spoon without being noticed somehow.
Rael Octavius: Being a goody-two-shoes?
Perri Elastime: Rael is a good one.
Fennimore (to Rael): I've seen you when you aren't being all courtly.
Rael Octavius: I have not seen you in The Spoon in a while, Munkustrap. What is up with that?
Perri Elastime: Well, you do like to follow all of the rules and look before leaping.
Fennimore: What was that sweet young girl's name at The Spoon?
Rael Octavius: Abigail.
Rael Octavius: Looking before leaping is called wisdom.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Well, no one was supposed to know I was going to The Spoon. My disguises are lacking apparently.
Perri Elastime: Or a distinct lack of adventure.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I'm not such a goody-two-shoes as I might appear.
Perri Elastime nudges Fennimore.
Rael Octavius: So you are trying to be very discrete at The Spoon? It is not illegal, just frowned upon by some.
Fennimore: So, we all have our little secrets.
Rael Octavius: Is this the City Watch thing about the scripture-pounders I heard about?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Yes.
Rael Octavius: Maybe Fenn can help you with a disguise and I can give you guidance.
Fennimore: I will help, but there is more to this than just sneaking into The Spoon.
Munkustrap von Rumm: As long as it gets me to The Spoon without being noticed, that is fine by me.
Rael Octavius: I am good at distractions, am I not, Fenn.
Fennimore: Almost as good as Majestic.
Fennimore: Tell us, Rael, what you know of Borgose the Blue?
Rael Octavius: The basics. Goddess of Debauchery. Worship is prohibited...Oh!
Rael Octavius: Today is supposedly one of Her feast days.
Perri Elastime: Really?
Rael Octavius: If you can call it that.
Fennimore: Oh really? That might be helpful.
Rael Octavius: There are four a year, each more vile than the last.
Rael Octavius: I think today's called "The Sacrifice."
Munkustrap von Rumm: Sounds troubling.
Perri Elastime: Hey, maybe we will get to rescue someone.
Rael Octavius: So, are you thinking The Spoon has a shrine?
Fennimore: That sounds like a job for a knight in shining armor.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Possibly. At least, hidden in The Spoon.
Perri Elastime: I think The Spoon is too obvious, but you never can tell.
Fennimore: Well, let's say I heard a rumor that The Spoon is harboring a sect of Borgosians.
Rael Octavius: They would be "celebrating" this feast in some manner.
Fennimore: A knight's attendance there casts a pall on their honor. So, we are out to find the sect and expose it.
Rael Octavius: Exactly.
Rael Octavius: Perfect cover.
Fennimore: It will net two birds with one stone.
Perri Elastime: How is that?
Fennimore: Clear the von Rumm name and complete my task with His Sneakiness.
Perri Elastime: Good plan. Let's leap before we look.
Rael Octavius: Hardly a need for a distraction. Just waltz right in like a certain bard we know.
Perri Elastime: Haven't met him yet.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Do you think Claricia is part of this sect?
Fennimore: Be happy.
Fennimore: I hope not. But, if it's happening under her roof, I don't see how she couldn't be involved somehow.
Rael Octavius: If she is, she has been really good at hiding it.
Perri Elastime: This is my happy face.
Fennimore: Perri, you always look like that.
Perri Elastime: See.
Rael Octavius: It's still fairly early in the day, dark as it is. We should head over there.
Perri Elastime stands up.
Perri Elastime: Let's go.
Munkustrap von Rumm stands up as well.
Rael Octavius having not sat down, turns towards the door.
Fennimore stands up.
Perri Elastime walks out.
Rael Octavius tosses a couple of gold on the table to cover the drinks.
Fennimore: Big spender.
Fennimore follows Perri.
Munkustrap von Rumm walks out with the rest.
The group exits the inn into the dark, blustery cold. It is only the second day of darkness, so it is not totally frigid just yet.
Rael Octavius: There have been a lot of darkdays recently. Kind of like what winter used to be from what I hear.
Perri Elastime -> Fennimore: Do we need to worry? You know...about becoming ratty?
Fennimore: So, we're just going to waltz in like we own the place and let the knight do his thing?
Fennimore -> Perri Elastime: I hope not. Rael told us that only happens once a month.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Unless you have a way to distract Claricia and the others.
Perri Elastime: Well, I thought I'd go in and have a drink. Clarissa seemed nice last time I was there.
Fennimore: She knows us all well enough and has always been welcoming.
Perri Elastime: Flirty even.
Rael Octavius: I can make a scene with Abigail while you slip in.
Fennimore: I was just curious if we wanted to try to be sneaky about it.
Rael Octavius: We'll all be bundled up from the weather.
Fennimore: No plan is a good plan.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I could doff this chain mail but I don't like the idea of being caught up in a fight without armor.
Perri Elastime grins at Rael.
Fennimore: Best keep your armor on. We don't know what we're going to meet.
Perri Elastime: Best keep your armor.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Can any of you detect magically sealed or hidden doors?
Perri Elastime: Somethimes I see them.
Fennimore: Depends on how well hidden they are.
Perri Elastime: Not reliably though.
Munkustrap von Rumm: If one of you can cast detect magic before we go in and concentrate on it without looking like you are concentrating on it, we might be able to find a secret door leading us to the shrine. I have to be able to see at least partly to determine if it's hallowed.
Rael Octavius: I may be able to make in easier, but still not sure-fire.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Oh, but another thought has occurred to me. What if not everyone at the Rogue Spoon is as they seem?
Munkustrap von Rumm: A fiend shapeshifted into a humanoid perhaps.
Perri Elastime: I'm pretty good at sussing out disguises.
Fennimore: I can tell if they're lying.
Rael Octavius: Borgosians are not that into demons or devils. The devil-worshippers cover that.
Munkustrap von Rumm: How about celestials?
Perri Elastime: I've never seen an angel.
Fennimore: I bet they are stuffy.
Rael Octavius: Definitely not them as far as Borgosians go. I am really good at seeing through deception. The Spoon's folk are basically straightforward.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Very well then.
Perri Elastime: Yeah, usually they want sex.
Rael Octavius: Pretty much.
Munkustrap von Rumm laughs.
Fennimore: They're in the right place for it.
The group arrives in The North Market where The Rogue Spoon Inn can be found. The trek through the thin layer of snow has been quiet as everything is closed due to the darkness.
Rael Octavius: Back alley or front door?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Uh...back.
Fennimore: So you're a back door man?
Perri Elastime: Fenn, that is an awfully personal question.
Munkustrap von Rumm laughs again.
Fennimore smirks.
Munkustrap von Rumm heads around to the back of The Rogue Spoon.
Perri Elastime follows.
The group heads into the alley behind the inn and bumps into Chet from the City Watch as they pass. He doesn't seem to recognize anyone or care. It seems like he just wants to get out of the cold as soon as possible.
Fennimore -> Munkustrap von Rumm: Close one, there.
Fennimore -> Munkustrap von Rumm: Good thing the Watch is incompetent.
Munkustrap von Rumm -> Fennimore: Yeah...Too close.
Munkustrap von Rumm adroitly side-steps out of Chet's way.
The group enters the inn through the back door.
Rael Octavius: Oh, Abigail!?
Perri Elastime moves toward the fireplace.
Rael Octavius heads in and around the bar, waving to Felicia as he goes.
Felicia: I think she's busy, Rael.
Fennimore takes a seat at the center table and begins to casually look around for possible secret doors.
Rael Octavius: What?
Felicia giggles.
Felicia: No. She's in her room though.
Rael Octavius rolls his eyes.
Munkustrap von Rumm takes a seat by Fennimore.
Perri Elastime tucks her gloves into her belt and warms her scarred hands.
Felicia: What can I get you...
Munkustrap von Rumm whispers, "Maybe we should just be direct with Claricia."
Felicia (recognizing Munkustrap): Hey...there. Long time now see.
Perri Elastime moves to the table and sits.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Oh, hi, Felicia. Just been kind of busy. You know how it is.
Fennimore -> Munkustrap von Rumm: What? Ask if you can attend tonight's sacrifice?
Felicia: Absolutely.
Felicia winks.
Perri Elastime: Hot buttered rum, please.
Felicia: Coming right up.
Munkustrap von Rumm -> Fennimore: Thinking more like, people know about the shrine, so be honest with us so we can help you or something.
Fennimore: Be careful with that Perri. Remember it didn't turn out so well the last time.
Perri Elastime: But I am so cold.
Perri Elastime: I'll just have a little.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I am sure Claricia has someone who can take care of that cold for you.
Fennimore: Then drink up.
Fennimore laughs
Felicia approaches with a tray of steaming mugs.
Felicia: Here you go.
Fennimore: How's business been?
Perri Elastime: Maybe, typically. I don't pay for sex.
Perri Elastime pays Felicia for the round of rum.
Felicia: Fine, really fine.
Fennimore: I expected the dark days would bring a bigger crowd.
Felicia: Oh, by the way, Munkustrap. Claricia never got to properly thank you for your help the last time you were here.
Fennimore nudges Munkustrap.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Where is Claricia tonight anyway?
Perri Elastime laughs.
Fennimore: Maybe you should get your thank you, big boy.
Felicia: Back in her room.
Perri Elastime sips some rum.
Perri Elastime gets a sudden strange feeling that something is brewing right behind her.
Perri Elastime: I haven't found anyone here I fancy.
A portal seems to be opening the doorway right behind Perri.
Munkustrap von Rumm: What is that?!
Perri Elastime looks around a bit.
Fennimore: Watch out, Perri!
Felicia: What the hell?
Munkustrap von Rumm stands up quickly.
Perri Elastime stands up.
Fennimore dashes to Perri's side.
Felicia dashes back behind the bar.
Perri Elastime draws her sword.
Munkustrap von Rumm readies his glaive.
Perri Elastime: Rael, trouble is brewing!
Rael Octavius pokes his head out from the door of Abigail's room.
Rael Octavius [Draconic]: Tiamat's Turds!
Fennimore: Quite an entrace there. You could have just used the door you know.
A wild looking man steps from the portal, cackling.
Perri Elastime: This is a nice friendly establishment.
Delgard the Deranged: Where is it? Where's the thing? Hahaha.
Perri Elastime: What is it you seek?
Delgard the Deranged steps toward the table where two patrons sit stunned.
Fennimore: You lost your thing? How sad. Especially in brothel.
Delgard the Deranged: Oh! They have guards. Hahaha. Weapons and everything. Hahaha.
Perri Elastime: Hey, you leave them be, they just want to get laid.
Fennimore looks around.
Fennimore: Guards? I don't see any guards.
The patrons shreak and drop over as if dead.
Fennimore: Oh, that's gonna be bad for business.
[TURN] Claricia Robert
A door slams open down the hall.
Claricia Robert: What the hell is going on!
Claricia Robert races down the hall toward the bar.
Fennimore: Hi Claricia, you have an unhappy visitor. Seems he lost his thing and came here to find it.
Perri Elastime: Trouble with a capital T.
Rael Octavius: I think we are going to need your help, Claricia.
Munkustrap von Rumm: What are you looking for? Why are you hurting these innocent people?
Perri Elastime launches a trio of magic missiles at the intruder.
Perri Elastime: Take that, slimeball.
Fennimore: You know if your soldier falls off after visiting a brothel, you really should go to the healers.
Claricia Robert: Possibly. It will be missing if he wrecks my place.
Delgard the Deranged [Primordial]: Ahh. That wasn't very nice.
Perri Elastime begins a bladesong.
Rael Octavius: No, you did it.
The patron nearest the door ducks out into the alley.
The other standing patron does likewise.
Perri Elastime: What a way to wreck a party.
Felicia ducks behind the bar.
Fennimore sizes up the intruder and fires an arrow at him, but it misses, embedding in the frame of the doorway. He then move around to be next to Perri.
Fennimore: Does your thing have a name?
Perri Elastime: Little Willy?
Paul (Fennimore): move and I'm done
Munkustrap von Rumm invokes Lehnbor's Vow and slashes at the intruder with the blade of his glaive, but misses.
Delgard the Deranged gestures and ice swirls around his body out of thin air and covers him like armor.
Perri Elastime: You want to tango?
Fennimore: This is a brothel, not a dance hall.
Delgard the Deranged [Primordial]: Hahaha. You are all the sacrifice. Hahaha.
Rael Octavius: Sacrifice?
Perri Elastime: It is the dance of life , brother.
Rael Octavius: More like a dance of death, Perri.
Rael Octavius runs forward and blesses his friends before stepping back a bit.
Claricia Robert runs forward and casts a spell at the intruder.
The spell seems to have no effect.
Claricia Robert: Damn it!
Perri stikes the intruder with her rapier, drawing blood.
Fennimore: Good one, Perri!
Biting cold shoots down the blade and into Perri, jolting her badly.
Perri Elastime: Ach! Mabs tits!
Fennimore draws his rapier.
Fennimore flanks the intruder and stabs through the ice with his rapier. The ice shatters from around the villian.
Munkstrap strikes the intruder with his glaive and gashes him.
A second strike from the butt of the weapon nearly takes the intruder down.
The whispering that is constantly flitting about the intruder grows louder and tries to enter his attacker's minds, but they all resist.
Fennimore: What was that? Did you say something?
Fennimore: You need to speak up.
Delgard the Deranged glares at Claricia and casts a spell.
Delgard the Deranged [Deep Speech]: You are mine!
The spell doesn't seem to have the desired effect.
Claricia Robert smirks.
Fennimore: First you're whispering, now you're speaking in tongues. How are we supposed to help you find your lost thing?
Claricia Robert: Nice try.
Rael Octavius moves up to Perri and heals her, then steps back.
Perri Elastime: Thank You! That feel much better.
Claricia Robert points at the intruder and a deep bell sounds over his head.
Delgard the Deranged [Deep Speech]: Argh! Bitch! You will die!
Perri Elastime attempts to leap over the table, away from the intruder. It is not as graceful of a maneuver as she usually performs and leaves herself open.
Delgard the Deranged stabs at Perri as she leaps over the table.
Perri just manages to throw up a shield to block the blow that would have certainly hit.
Fennimore: Where are you going Perri? The fun is over here.
Perri launches a bolt of fire that strikes the intruder.
Delgard the Deranged [Deep Speech]: Aarrrggghh!!! May the tentacle take you all!
Fennimore: I heard soldiers are falling off from some junk going around. Time for you to surrender.
Delgard the Deranged drops to the floor unconscious.
Claricia Robert: Who the hell is this?
Perri Elastime: Are the other patrons dead?
Fennimore: I thought you might know him?
Fennimore searches Delgard's body.
Munkustrap von Rumm rushes to check the other patrons to try to stablize them if possible.
Rael Octavius: This one is just barely.
Rael Octavius spares the dying.
Perri Elastime helps.
Rael Octavius: Let me check the other one.
Rael Octavius: Oh, no. This one did not make it. Poor guy.
Perri Elastime: Who is this clown?
Fennimore: Do think he came here to party? If so, he is quite the party pooper.
Perri Elastime: Did you find anything, Fenn?
Claricia Robert: I have never seen him before.
Perri Elastime: Is he dead or unconscious?
Fennimore keeps searching Delgard, especially looking for anything Borgosian.
Fennimore finds nothing that indicates he is Borgosian.
Perri Elastime: If he is not dead bind hands and feet with rope.
Rael Octavius: Hey! What did you just do Claricia?
Perri Elastime: Check him over for anything Fey.
Fennimore eyes Claricia suspiciously.
Claricia Robert: He was wrecking my place and killing my customers.
Rael Octavius: What was he babbling on about sacrifices?
Claricia Robert: Sacrifices? What about sacrifices? He was talking jibberish.
Fennimore looks around for Felicia.
Rael Octavius bends down to check on the intruder.
Rael Octavius: If he was not dead, he is now.
Perri Elastime: Hard to question the dead.
Fennimore: Too bad. I wonder if we could have gotten any sense out of him.
Felicia pops up from behind the bar.
Felicia: Is it over?
Claricia Robert: Yes, dear.
Claricia Robert: I doubt it. He was clearly a raving lunatic.
Fennimore: He had some purpose in mind.
Munkustrap von Rumm: How are you going to explain this to the City Watch? A man teleporting into your establishment and killing people. It won't look good for you.
Rael Octavius: Hmph. Sure, Claricia. What's going on.
Claricia Robert: I was defending myself and my customers. Thank you, by the way, for the help.
Perri Elastime: My rum spilled.
Felicia: I'll get you more.
Fennimore: The watch already has it out for you, even if this is self-defense, it won't sit well with them.
Rael Octavius: She is hiding something, but we all helped in putting him down. The Watch will have nothing to do but clean up this mess.
Claricia Robert: I have a business that requires discretion. If I am hiding something, it is for the deceased's benefit.
Perri Elastime -> Rael Octavius: You sense anything divinely off?
Rael Octavius -> Perri Elastime: Oh, I think I know what is going on here.
Munkustrap von Rumm: For his benefit?
Munkustrap von Rumm: He is a murderer!
Fennimore: This isn't as simple as him catching a venereal disease. He wanted something.
Rael Octavius: He was the "sacrifice," was he not?
Claricia Robert: I do not know what you are talking about. The Sacrifice is a myth.
Fennimore: Really? That's too bad, I was looking to party tonight.
Claricia Robert: He invaded my business and he paid the price. Thank the Gods you all were here.
Claricia Robert: At least The Iris, no offense, Munkustrap, were not here instead.
Fennimore: What do they have to do with this?
Claricia Robert: Nothing. Why?
Perri Elastime opens her collar and lets the scene on her left collar bone peek out. It is quite violent and sexual.
Fennimore: You brought them up. Ooh, I bet Majestic likes to party a little too hard doesn't he?
Munkustrap von Rumm face palms.
Claricia Robert: Majestic does not need any more recognition.
Fennimore: You can say that again.
Perri Elastime: She allows Claarissa to see it then hides it again.
Claricia Robert: My, my, Perri. Who did that?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Who did what?
Perri Elastime: It matters not.
Claricia Robert: Goodness gracious, what a twisted artist, whoever they are.
Fennimore holds his tongue.
Rael Octavius -> Perri Elastime: I think she is aroused.
Rael Octavius shakes his head.
Perri Elastime -> Rael Octavius: Really? That is scary.
Rael Octavius -> Perri Elastime: Quite a Borgosian trait.
Rael Octavius: Munkustrap, you had something to do here?
Fennimore: Claricia, we are just trying to help. But, if you aren't being honest with us, it just makes it harder for everyone.
Munkustrap von Rumm activates his divine senses.
Claricia Robert: I have my clients discretion only. Myself? There is nothing to hide.
Claricia Robert disrobes.
Claricia Robert begins to strut back towards her room.
Perri Elastime: Not everything is displayed on the skin.
Fennimore: Now you are just trying to divert our attention.
Claricia Robert: Whatever. I'm available.
Claricia Robert enters her room with a seductive glance back down the hall at the group.
Perri Elastime heads down the hallway after her.
Munkustrap von Rumm is not sure if it's his divine sense or his hormones, but something is setting off alarms.
Fennimore thinks about joining Perri.
Munkustrap von Rumm is pretty sure Claricia is radiating to set off his divine senses.
Munkustrap von Rumm says softly, "Wait. I think Claricia is not as she seems."
Rael Octavius: I think she is worshipping..
Perri Elastime stops in the hallway.
Fennimore tries to draw his thoughts together.
Fennimore: What?
Rael Octavius: Whatever Perri showed her really set her off.
Munkustrap von Rumm: She does not originate from this plane, methinks.
Rael Octavius: She is projecting.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Projecting?
Perri Elastime: Listens at the door.
Rael Octavius: Her Goddess. Borgose.
Perri Elastime hears groaning.
Perri Elastime looks toward the others in the common room.
Fennimore glances at Felicia.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Well, we cannot very well take the law into our own hands. I do not wish to turn her over to the City Watch.
Fennimore beckons to Perri.
Fennimore: I have an idea.
Felicia: You've heard the expresson your body is your shrine?
Perri Elastime shivers and comes back.
Perri Elastime retches.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Like "Your body is a temple?"
Felicia: That one, too.
Perri Elastime looks ill.
Fennimore: I think we should leave her to her worship for tonight. We can come back to discuss this when everyone has calmed down.
Munkustrap von Rumm: What is wrong, Perri?
Felicia: You won't find a shrine here because it is only here when she wants it to be.
Perri Elastime shakes her head.
Fennimore: You seem unperturbed by her worship?
Felicia: Be thankful she doesn't force it on everyone around her like the high priestess does.
Perri Elastime: The High Priestess?
Claricia Robert (muffled by the distance): Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!
Fennimore: Claricia?!
Munkustrap von Rumm rushes over to Claricia's room and tries the door handle.
Munkustrap von Rumm opens the door quickly.
Felicia smirks.
Perri Elastime follows Munkustrap.
Claricia Robert lies on the bed breathing heavily.
Claricia Robert: Come in, or not. It is up to you.
Fennimore moves up to the bar to talk to Felicia.
Fennimore: I'm of no use to them. Let them have their orgy. I'd rather have an ale and talk to you.
Felicia pours Fennimore an ale and set it on the bar.
Felicia: Sure. Let's talk.
Munkustrap von Rumm: You sounded in distress. What is your game exactly?
Fennimore: Does the high priestess force you to practice her religion?
Rael Octavius slips into Abigail's room.
Claricia Robert: Game? No game, just pleasure.
Perri Elastime: Looks in, then moves back down the hall.
Felicia: Me? No force applied for me. I just go with it.
Fennimore: Good, you're a beautiful woman. I'd hate to see you being forced to do something you don't want to.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I know who you serve, and we are not the only ones who know. You are playing dangerously.
Fennimore: Halflings enjoy our vices, mostly gluttony. We have a different view of sex than humans do. It isn't a forbidden fruit to us.
Perri Elastime sneaks over by the fire to sit alone in it warmth.
Claricia Robert: You are a naive one. A good deal of the Senate and even more of the court are influenced by Borgose. Resist if you care. I'll force nothing on you.
Felicia: It isn't forbidden. Some are just pushed the wrong direction.
Fennimore: Wrong? What's wrong with sex as long as all parties are doing it for love and care for each other.
Munkustrap von Rumm pulls the door and slams it shut behind him before stomping back to the main area.
Felicia: Love and care are just part. Pleasure and immortality are important too.
Fennimore: You can't get rid of something merely by forbidding it. It just drives it into dark corners where you can't easily see it.
Felicia: And then it is split and corrupted.
Fennimore: Pleasure certainly, but immortality? That's a new one. I suppose sex brings procreation and immortality through your children.
Felicia: No need to be in a huff, Munkustrap. Take as much as you can, when you can.
Perri Elastime hides, allowing tears to come.
Felicia pulls a pouch out from under the bar.
Fennimore: Munkustrap, Felica and Claricia are being most accomodating. Why don't you take a seat and have an ale.
Felicia: Munkustrap, this is the reward that Claricia was keeping for you for your help with the scripture-pounders.
Felicia: Is this paladin going to remain incorruptible?
Munkustrap von Rumm: What I do, I do not do for gold. Tell her to keep her it.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I do not pretend to be perfect, but I won't be bribed.
Fennimore: Munkustrap, the pleasures of the flesh and the protecting of the innocent are not incompatible.

Decitina 6th, Year One of the Reign of High King Ran

It has been a couple of days since Perri and Fennimore's adventure below the castle. They've recovered from their encounter with the rat-man and there doesn't seem to be any ill-effects.
This day, Fennimore finds a new post on the board at The Fiery Stag.
Fennimore: At last, my friend has decided to meet.
Perri Elastime: Which friend. You know a lot of people.
Fennimore: You haven't met this one yet. He is the knight who saved Mum from the quickling and he is in a bit of trouble, though he may not know how much.
Perri Elastime: Anybody that would save your Mum is a grand soul indeed.
Fennimore: I'll leave a note for him. We need to meet discreetly.
Fennimore: "M, Ask Mindartis inside for a room for the night. I will find you there. A Friend"
Perri Elastime: I can be kinda discreet.
Fennimore posts the new note to the board.
Fennimore: Let's go inside. I want to talk to Mindartis for a moment.
Perri Elastime: I want a cheese platter.
Perri Elastime heads inside the Stag.
Munkustrap von Rumm: A figure in a dusty cloak and hood stands across the road from The Fiery Stag. The figure watches the entrance to the Stag and the notice board out of the corner of his eye while casually eating an apple.
Fennimore notices Munkustrap nearby when he is entering the inn, but he is clearly trying to be inconspicuous.
Munkustrap von Rumm notices Fennimore motion to him discretely as he realizes you are there.
Fennimore makes a small wave to him, trying not to off Perri or anyone else about.
Fennimore follows her and seeks out Mindartis.
Mindartis is at his usual place behind the bar.
Fennimore looks around to see who else is in the Stag.
There are a few of the regulars, but nobody out of place inside.
Perri Elastime: Heya can we have a platter with heaps of cheese and bread and some beer to wash it down with?
Perri Elastime: I got a hollow inside that only cheese can fill.
Perri Elastime scopes the place out looking for the Troublesome Troubadour.
Fennimore: Perri, let's take a corner table.
Perri Elastime sits at a table in the far corner of the tavern.
Perri Elastime: I've got a corner table.
Fennimore: Excellent.
Munkustrap von Rumm: The cloaked figure waits for the two at the notice board to enter the Stag before meandering over himself. He takes the new note from the board and reads it. After several seconds, he opens the Stag's door, steps inside, and pulls closed the door.
Munkustrap von Rumm: As his eyes adjust to the dimmer light, the cloaked figure looks around the room noticing Fennimore with a companion motioning discreetly.
Munkustrap von Rumm casually walks toward Fennimore.
Fennimore -> Perri Elastime: Try not to look up, our mark has arrived.
Perri Elastime: So do you think that there are more of those ratmen around?
Fennimore: Gods, I hope not. One of them was more than we could handle. I'm just glad the Castle was warded against them.
Mindartis is greeting a new guest.
Perri Elastime plays with a damp spot on the table drawing this way and that.
Perri Elastime: That was a close call.
Mindartis (to the cloaked Munkustrap): Take a seat anywhere. I'll be right with you.
Fennimore -> Perri Elastime: If he follows the lead and takes a room, we can follow and have a quiet conversation upstairs.
Perri Elastime: Maybe he is hungry.
Munkustrap von Rumm looks at Fennimore and asks, "This seat taken?"
Fennimore shakes his head.
Fennimore: Not at all friend. Please join us.
Perri Elastime: Are you hungry? Fenn and I were about to have a cheese eating contest.
Munkustrap von Rumm sits down at the table across from the other two.
Fennimore: I suggest caution, she can out-eat a halfling.
Perri Elastime: On a bad night. On a good night I can out-eat two.
Mindartis wanders over to the table.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I am quite hungry despite having just eaten an apple.
Fennimore: Good evening, Mindartis. How's business been?
Mindartis: Greetings, Lady Elastime...Fennimore. How are we doing today?
Perri Elastime: An apple? Pffft. That can't keep anyone for more than a few seconds.
Mindartis: Business is good, as usual.
Fennimore: Excellent, because we are famished.
Fennimore: Do you happen to have any rooms available?
Fennimore: We have some business to attend to and would like to eat in private.
Mindartis: The three of you are together then. I'll get some food over here right a way.
Perri Elastime: Thank you.
Mindartis: Lord Octavius still hasn't returned. You can use his area if you need more privacy.
Mindartis makes his way back to the kitchen and disappears.
Perri Elastime: I'm not sure that Rael has a dad. Haven't seen him.
Perri Elastime: Shall we move? The fire looks cozy over there.
Fennimore: Munkustrap, allow me to introduce you to the Lady Perri Elastime of the Fae Realm. Perri, this is my old friend Munkustrap von Rumm.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Greetings, my lady.
Perri Elastime: Pleased to eat with you.
Fennimore: Shall we adjourn to the Octavius' table?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Gladly.
Perri Elastime: I'd race you guys, but I'd win.
Fennimore: So, you're probably wondering why I asked you to meet us.
Mindartis comes out of the kitchen and starts heading for the corner the group was in before making a quick turn on his heel to head to Reggot's table.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Yes, very much so.
Mindartis arrives with food and drink.
Fennimore pays for dinner.
Perri Elastime: Thank you, thank you. I'm famished.
Mindartis: Will you be contesting with your comestibles today?
Perri Elastime: Not sure if there are any takers today.
Mindartis sets the platter on the table.
Mindartis smiles.
Fennimore: I'm afraid not. Maybe next time. Though keep the ale flowing, this is thirsty business.
Perri Elastime: Fennimore is all business before pleasure.
Mindartis: Five silver each should cover it.
Perri Elastime Perri pays 5 silver.
Fennimore: Here's a gold for your discretion, as well.
Munkustrap von Rumm reaches into his cloak and pulls out 8 silver and hands it to Mindartis.
Mindartis: Many thanks and you have my discretion as always.
Mindartis returns to the other customer, but they slip out before he gets there.
Mindartis: Hmph.
Munkustrap von Rumm: So, what is this danger you speak of?
Fennimore: Yes, as I was saying. We met at one of your favored establishments.
Fennimore: Your presence there attracted the attention of the City Watch. When I warned your father of their attention, he began throwing his weight around, which attracted more attention.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Apparently my disguises are lacking. I thought I was so clever.
Fennimore: The Lord High Inquisitor Mosifort approached me at the Castle to investigate your involvement the day of the scripture-pounders assault on The Rogue Spoon Inn and why your father was involved.
Perri Elastime starts to eat.
Perri Elastime: Yes, High Lord Sneakiness is quite rude telling me to leave.
Fennimore: I would rather make a friend of the High Lord, but I value the time we spent together as well, which leaves me in a bit of a quandry.
Fennimore: But, there is another who might be useful to us. One who likes to draw attention to himself and is well known to both the Court and has been seen associating with you.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Magic?
Music from a lute begins to flow throughout the tavern area.
Fennimore: Very adept of you.
Fennimore: Magic has caused me no end of troubles since the first day he appeared at The Rogue Spoon.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I do not associate with him for the joy of it, I can assure you.
Fennimore laughs.
Perri Elastime: I don't associate with him.
Fennimore (to Perri): Be glad your path hasn't crossed the Troublesome Troubador.
Munkustrap von Rumm: What does the Lord High Inquisitor want? What is his angle in this?
Fennimore: He is the Inquisitor. I think he is looking for information to use against you and your family. Courtly politics and all that.
Perri Elastime looks around for any that might take an interest in the conversation and notices that no one in the main part of the tavern seem to realize they are there.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Why does he target my family? What have we done to anger him?
Munkustrap von Rumm: And how can Magic be of use to us?
Fennimore: He didn't share much, just that your father was drawing undesired attention on your behalf.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I have warned my father, but he did not seem to take it very seriously.
It just occurs to Fennimore that The Lord High Inquisitor is more likely testing him.
Fennimore: The Inquisitor is likely using you to test my abilities to ferret out secrets. Abilities he may want to use to other ends in the future.
Munkustrap von Rumm: So you are working for him?
Perri Elastime: You must be careful the ends others would make of you may not be the ends you desire.
Fennimore: You're right, Perri.
Fennimore: I agreed to work for him as a way to forestall the investigation into your family.
Fennimore: But, the Inquisitor is not one to be dismissed lightly.
Munkustrap von Rumm: So, what do you suggest?
Fennimore: Back to Magic. He appeared to us the day he first led us into that fiasco with Forget-Me-Not. Since then, I have had repeated brushes with her, both good and ill. If Magic becomes the juiciest secret I can deliver to the Inquisitor, we can divert attention away from you and your family.
Fennimore: The Inquisitor will easily see through any lies or subversions, so the secret has to be truthful enough.
Perri Elastime: Me, I suggest pie and pastry, but while always delicious, not always helpful.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I doubt there is much by way of secrets to Magic. He never stops talking, though it could be a cover.
Fennimore: I know he is working both sides of the street on that mission to recover the amulet he sent us on. The mistress of this establishment wants him to recover it for her. Meanwhile, Magic has told the King he is going to recover it for the Crown. In the process Magic delivered a second powerful magic item into Forget-Me-Not's hands.
Fennimore: Either Magic is majestically incompetent or he is working with Forget-Me-Not.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Maybe both?
Perri Elastime: Maybe he just makes it up as he goes along.
Fennimore: Now, what I need from you, is details on what happened since I left the Spoon. What has Magic been up to. Where has he stayed? Who does he associate with?
Munkustrap von Rumm nods at Perri.
Perri Elastime smiles.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I know he has a shop where he sells shoes and trinkets. He is always going on and on about it to anyone who will listen.
Fennimore: Aye, the shop is near my Mum's cart. I owe you much thanks for saving her from the quickling.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Thanks be to Lehnbor that we were able to deal with it before it did more damage.
Fennimore: Lehnbor wasn't there to save me Mum. You were, so I'll give my thanks to you.
Munkustrap von Rumm: It is my duty to protect the citizens of this city.
Perri Elastime eats and drinks not wanting the food to go to waste with all of this heavy talk.
Munkustrap von Rumm: How to deal with Magic, though?
Fennimore: It seems to me that Magic brings much trouble with him and the citizens need protecting from him.
Munkustrap von Rumm: He is very...chaotic, yes.
Perri Elastime: Fennimore doesn't like him.
Fennimore: I need a believable way to tie him back to Forget-Me-Not and to blame your association with the Spoon on him.
Fennimore: I don't like the trouble he causes. He is like a briar patch. Every word he speaks is another thorn in my side.
Munkustrap von Rumm: My association with the Spoon is not due to Magic; to say otherwise would be a falsehood. I will not lie to save my own skin.
Perri Elastime: If that were true you be pricklier than a hedgehog.
Perri Elastime: A man of honor and dignity is you, Munkustrap von Rumm.
Fennimore: I do not ask you to lie. Will you allow me to shield you from the inquiry? Or would you rather speak the truth? If you want to be out with it, I can arrange a meeting with the Inquisitor for you to uphold your honor.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I do not understand what is the aim of the Inquisitor. Does he mean to cause harm to my family?
Fennimore: Probably not directly. But, if he can influence you and your family. I don't doubt he will use it.
Perri Elastime: Power shifts.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Blackmail? Extortion?
Fennimore: Perhaps.
Fennimore: Does your father have much influence at Court? Maybe the Inquisitor wants to use you as leverage over your Father.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Let me speak with the Inquisitor, if you can arrange a meeting, I shall ask him to his face what his intentions are.
Perri Elastime: Is there really something to be blackmailed about? Munkustrap you seem quite honorable.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I am a devotee to Lehnbor. I uphold the law as best I can, but no one is perfect.
Perri Elastime: Is this a lover thing again?
Fennimore: We are mortal, not gods. Not one of us can attain perfection.
Deuteronomy von Rumm is a high-ranking member of The Senate, so he has quite a bit of influence. He actually turned down the position of Lord High Marshal because he is that powerful in The Senate.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I have made some imprudent decisions in my past, but nothing that would be cause for blackmail.
Fennimore: Good.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Unless you count association with Magic.
Perri Elastime: That seems to come with its own punishment.
Fennimore laughs again.
Fennimore: I leave it to you. If you have a better option, I'll listen. We can try to blame it on Magic or you can share your indiscretions with the Inquisitor and let him decide how to use them.
Fennimore: I think I can arrange a meeting with the Inquisitor tonight, if that is your choice.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I will face the Inquisitor. No one shall be punished for my sake.
Fennimore sighs.
Fennimore: You are a brave and honorable man. I hope you are right.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Is there something more, something you have not told me?
Fennimore: No, I just don't trust the Inquisitor.
Fennimore: At least, he hasn't done anything to earn my trust, just yet.
Perri Elastime: He is not one I am likely to trust.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Well, can you find out what his goal is? Why he targets my family?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Does he mean to throw me to the scripture-pounders?
Perri Elastime: Could knowledge of your indescretions put someone else in harms way?
Munkustrap von Rumm: I have broken no laws.
Perri Elastime: I didn't say that you broke the law. I can see that your honor is important to you.
Munkustrap von Rumm: If his goal is to blackmail my father, then I must resort to more extreme measures.
Fennimore: I can't rule that out.
Perri Elastime: I am looking for the other thrust. Perhaps your family is not the target and someone less able to refuse is the target. Perhaps it is a pronged attack.
Perri Elastime: One way they get leverage on you and your family the other they get what?
Fennimore: Me.
Munkustrap von Rumm: You?
Fennimore: If I give you up to the Inquisitor, he knows he can use me for other dirty deeds.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Why are you working for him?
Perri Elastime: The question is how can you refuse.
Fennimore nods.
Fennimore: He cornered me in the Castle one day. He already knew too much about you and your father. Maybe he knows everything and is just testing me to see if I will throw you to the wolves.
Fennimore: I bought some time and that's when I thought of using Magic as a diversion.
Fennimore notices the tavern filling in.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Though it would be easy to blame Magic, I cannot do that--without a powerful reason.
Fennimore: I could report back to him that I failed. I will lose his confidence; maybe make an enemy at Court. A powerful enemy from one who shares my profession.
Fennimore: I agree. If you don't want to use Magic, we won't.
Fennimore: I have no love for the bard, but he will get his due when the time is right.
Perri Elastime: Maybe there is another diversion. We encountered a ratman. Are there more?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Is Forget-Me-Not employed by the Inquisitor?
Fennimore: Hmm, interesting idea. But, from the little I know, she likes to work alone.
Munkustrap von Rumm: What exactly does the Inquisitor want from you? What did he tell you to do with me?
Perri Elastime: I suppose snooping around the Inquisitor's rooms to see what he is up to is right out.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Quick way to make a powerful enemy.
Munkustrap von Rumm laughs.
Fennimore: He knows your father was influencing the City Watch. He wants me to investigate why and report back with any "valuable" information I can provide.
Munkustrap von Rumm: My father merely spoke to the Watch Captain. He said he did not interfere with anything.
Fennimore: He knows that I met you and heard of the event with the scripture-pounders. I told him that a few watchmen were upset that you upstaged them that day and had it out for you. He was intrigued by that bit of news.
Munkustrap von Rumm scoffs.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I was assisting them, not upstaging them!
Fennimore: That's not the way Chet saw it.
Fennimore: Your actions that day made quite a splash, ruffled some feathers.
Munkustrap von Rumm: It is my duty as a knight of the city to help keep the peace.
Perri Elastime: Insecure people find competance embarassing.
Fennimore: A few hours before we met, I overheard two of the Watch plotting your ruin.
Munkustrap von Rumm stares, his mouth agape.
Munkustrap von Rumm: My ruin? What did I do to deserve this?
Perri Elastime: They are that petty that they find assistance intolerable?
Munkustrap von Rumm: Apparently so.
Fennimore: Chet and his partner seem to think you are involved in something Blue.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Forget-Me-Not?
Fennimore: A different shade of Blue, more Borgosian. That the Rogue Spoon is a cover.
Fennimore: I can see why, with it being a brothel and all.
Fennimore: Frankly, halflings don't understand the need to barter for sex. We learn at a young age how our bodies work. That's why we have such large families.
Munkustrap von Rumm: A cover for what exactly?
Fennimore: Borgose the Blue is not exactly an up-and-up goddess around these parts. If she is going to have a temple, what better place to worship fleshly pleasures than a brothel.
Perri Elastime: Consensual sex without worship is fine by me.
Munkustrap von Rumm sits back and thinks for a few seconds.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I am not aware of any shrine to Borgose in The Rogue Spoon.
Fennimore: Nor I, and I worked there.
Munkustrap von Rumm: So the Inquisitor is looking for acolytes of Borgose. And he thinks I might be one?
Fennimore: The Watch is looking for acolytes of Borgose and thinks you might be one. Your father intervened with the Watch Captain on your behalf and attracted the attention of the Inquisitor. He wants to know why you interfered with the scripture-pounders, why your father got involved, and no doubt how he can put that knowledge to his own advantage.
Fennimore: A tangled web.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Indeed.
Perri Elastime: Ugh.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I interfered with the scripture-pounders because they were going to tear down The Rogue Spoon. Chaos must not prevail.
Fennimore: Fair enough.
Munkustrap von Rumm: But I had no idea and I still have no idea if there is a shrine to Borgose at The Rogue Spoon.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I will help tear down a shrine to her if one is found.
Fennimore: Maybe that should be our next step. It will be much easier to infiltrate the Spoon than the Inquisitors quarters.
Fennimore: If you are willing to join with me and Perri, we can pay Claricia a little visit.
Perri Elastime: How about we put it on the list.
Fennimore: You can enjoy your daliance and we will do a little investigating.
Munkustrap von Rumm: I am not sure that me going to The Rogue Spoon again is a good idea. I already have people targeting me for being there.
Perri Elastime bats his eyelashes at Munkustrap.
Fennimore: We're pretty good at being sneaky. If Chet is still watching the Spoon, we can avoid him.
Munkustrap von Rumm glances at Perri questioningly.
Perri Elastime: We can avoid him.
Munkustrap von Rumm: Very well.
Munkustrap von Rumm: When do you suggest we pay the Spoon a visit?

Munkustrap wishes to be more effective with his glaive and asks his father who would be the best teacher to instruct him in the mastery of such a great weapon. Lord von Rumm suggests a military colleague of his, Korald, who commands an outpost in Nightfield on the southern edge of "The City."

Having trained with Tazdar, Munkustrap realizes he has mastered great weapons and instead decides to improve his resilience to physical effects that affect his concentration and body.

Nonotina 7th, Year One of the Reign of High King Ran

Munkustrap is preparing to leave the Rogue Spoon after an illicit liaison with one of the beautiful girls of the brothel when a disturbance erupts out front. There is a lot of shouting and stones begin to strike the front of the building, one smashing a window.

Munkustrap moves towards the door to investigate when the proprietor, Claricia Roberts, intercepts him.

"Oh, Munk, dear," she says.

"What is all the commotion about?" he asks.

"I may have been a bit less cautious about this place than I should have been," she says.

"Do you need some help clearing off the ruffians?"

"There is quite a crowd out there," she says concerned. "I do not want you to get hurt on our account."

Munkustrap turns away from the front door, intent on making his way out into the back alley since the disguise he uses for these liaisons will be seen through if he leaves through the front.

Claricia follows him to the back door.

"Maybe you can create a diversion without that disguise of yours as I have the clients and the girls sneak away," she suggests.

Munkustrap nods and exits the brothel while Claricia rushes off to usher the clients and girls to safety. Munkustrap makes his way north up the alley, removing his disguise and readying his glaive, as he goes. He sprints around the block until he enters the market square where a crowd has gathered in front of The Rogue Spoon. He approaches the crowd, realizing they are scripture-pounders and gets the attention of one of the zealots.

"What is going on here?"

"Thar be Borgosians in that thar brothel!" says the zealot.

Munkustrap pushes and prods his way to the front of the crowd were a single instigator is proselytizing and banging on the door.

"Why are you attacking this tavern?" asks Munkustrap.

"Tavern?" says the instigator. "This ain't no tavern!"

"Are they doing anything illegal?", asks Munkustrap. "If they are up to no good, you should contact the city watch to investigate."

"Thar be carnal worship going on in there!" hollers the instigator.

The instigator turns to the crowd, "This needs to be stopped!"

"Prostitution is not forbidden in this city," says Munkustrap.

The crowd yells and howls.

"What?" says the instigator. "Are you one of them?"

"He's one of them!" yells someone in the crowd.

"Of course not!" Munkustrap bellows. "But it is still not against the law. Back off and let me investigate this!"

"Investigate?" says the instigator. "You're the law?"

"I am a knight of this city," claims the paladin. "I will bring in the city watch and together we will get to the bottom of this."

The crowd boos.

"Knight?" questions another of the zealots. "What family?"

"The von Rumm family."

"Oh," says the instigator. "My apologies, good sir."

"Most sorry, sir," says the zealot.

"Not much harm done," says the paladin. "Just a few broken windows. But, please disperse before things get violent."

"They can fix them," shouts a zealot. "They brought this upon themselves.

The crowd cheers.

The instigator turns to the crowd.

"This fine knight of the von Rumm family will handle it from here. Back to the markets with you all!"

The crowd begins to disperse.

"Thank you, fine sir," Munkustrap says to the instigator.

As the crowd leaves the area two watchmen approach.

"Hoy!" shouts one of the watchmen.

"Thanks for that, Master von Rumm," the watchman says.

Munkustrap turns to the door and tries the handle. It is locked.

"I am guessing they locked the place up," says the watchman.

"The crowd was getting out of hand," says the paladin. "Was all I could do to keep them from tearing the building down."

"Open up!" yells the watchman while knocking on the door. "It is the Watch!"

A bolt is thrown from the inside and the voice of Claricia can be heard from behind the door.

"It is open. Come on in!"

The watchman opens the door and enters. Munkustrap follows.

"Oh, good," says a flustered Claricia.

The watchman searches around a bit.

"Just a bit of broken glass," says the proprietor.

"I managed to stop the crowd," says the paladin. "But you will have to be careful about attracting so much attention."

"The cost of doing business," says Claricia.

"The only attitude you can have in your line of business," says the watchmen. "Glad no one was hurt."

The watchman nods and exits the brothel.

"Thank you so much for that," says the madame to Munkustrap.

"Was anyone hurt?" asks the paladin after the watchman has left.

"No," she says. "Just a bit shook up."

"You may want to consider hiring a guard," says Munkustrap. "Or, relocating."

"I have you," she says with a coy smile and snuggles up to the paladin.

"Yes, but it is not easy for me to keep sneaking over here," he says. "Sooner or later, people will catch on."

"I suppose you are right," she says.

"My family's reputation..." says von Rumm. "It could be ruined."

"We cannot have that," she says sarcastically.

Munkustrap laughs.

Besides," she continues with a wink. "You have earned some free time."

"Thanks, but it will have to be another time, unfortunately," he says. "People are already suspicious. I will need to come up with a better disguise."

"You will."

Munkustraps holds out a gold coin to Claricia, "For your troubles."

"Keep it," she says. "I have plenty."

"Very well," he says while stepping towards the door. "I must be off. Sorry, indeed, that we were so rudely interrupted."

"Not the first time," she says. "Will not be the last. Do not be a stranger."

"I will be back," he says with a smile. "Just not soon, I am afraid."

Claricia pouts.

"Do not look so glum," he says looking back. "You have plenty of customers."

She smirks.

Munkustrap walks through the door and closes it behind him. Looking around the area, he sees the watchmen waiting for him. He approaches them.

"So," says the watchman. "You found no contraband, I take it."

"None to be found," says Munkustrap.

"As usual," says the watchman. "They are legit."

"Thank you for your time, good sirs," says the paladin.

"No," they say. "Thank you, sir.

"You are very welcome."

The watchmen wander off towards the market and Munkustrap heads home.
